The things people actually ask before buying a ceiling light.
What is the difference between a flush and semi-flush ceiling light?
A flush mount sits tight to the ceiling, best for low rooms and hallways. A semi-flush drops a little for a softer, more decorative look while still keeping head clearance. Both suit standard ceilings.
How bright should a ceiling light be?
For general light, aim for roughly 300 to 500 lumens per few square metres, built from warm-white LEDs. Go brighter in a kitchen or work area, and keep it soft with a dimmer in a bedroom.
Do ceiling lights come with a bulb?
Most ship with warm-white LED bulbs included, so they are ready to install, with mounting hardware in the box. The fitting type and bulb count are listed on each product page.
What size ceiling light do I need?
Add your room length and width in metres and use that sum in tens of centimetres as a guide diameter (a 3m by 4m room is about 70cm). Scale down for hallways and up for open-plan spaces.
Are ceiling lights dimmable?
Many are, with a compatible dimmable bulb and dimmer, noted on each product page. Where a bulb is included we ship a dimmable warm-white LED.
What colour temperature is best?
Warm white (around 3000K) suits living rooms, bedrooms and hallways for a cosy feel. A slightly cooler tone works for kitchens and bathrooms where you want crisper light.
Can I fit a ceiling light in a bathroom?
Only with the right IP rating for the zone. Many decorative ceiling lights are made for dry rooms, so check the product page, and for damp areas pick a suitably rated fitting.
What are they made of?
Hand-finished glass (often opal or smoked), metal and, in some designs, wood detailing. The materials and finish are listed on each product page.
Will one ceiling light be enough?
A central ceiling light gives good overall light, but for an even, layered feel, pair it with lamps or wall lights. Larger or open-plan rooms may need two fittings.
What is included, and how do shipping and returns work?
Ceiling lights ship free and fully insured with DHL, with the bulb (where included) and mounting hardware in the box. Not right? We offer 30-day returns on unused items in original packaging.
