The things people actually ask before buying a wall light.
How high should a wall light be mounted?
As a guide, mount wall lights about 150 to 170cm from the floor, near eye level. Either side of a bed, lower them so the light falls on your book; flanking a mirror, place them at around face height.
Do wall lights come with a bulb?
Most ship with a warm-white LED bulb included and mounting hardware in the box, so they are ready to fit. The bulb and fitting details are on each product page.
Can I install a wall light without an electrician?
Hard-wired wall lights should be connected by a qualified electrician. Some models are plug-in, with a visible or concealed cord, which you can mount yourself, so check the product page for the type.
Are wall lights dimmable?
Many are, with a compatible dimmable bulb and dimmer, ideal beside a bed for soft night-time light. Where a bulb is included we ship a dimmable warm-white LED.
What do up and down wall lights do?
An up-and-down wall light washes light both ways for a soft, architectural effect on the wall. A directional or swing-arm model focuses light where you need it, great for reading or highlighting art.
How many wall lights do I need?
They work beautifully in pairs, either side of a bed, fireplace, mirror or doorway, for symmetry. Along a hallway, space them evenly (roughly every 2 to 2.5m) to lead the eye through.
Are wall lights good for reading in bed?
Yes. A swing-arm or adjustable-head wall light frees up your nightstand and puts light right on the page. Mount it slightly above and beside the headboard, and choose a dimmable model.
Can I use wall lights in a bathroom?
Only with the right IP rating for the zone around a basin or shower. Many decorative wall lights are made for dry rooms, so check the product page and pick a suitably rated fitting for bathrooms.
What are they made of?
Hand-finished glass, metal, and in some designs fabric or rattan shades. Each product page lists the exact materials and finish.
What is included, and how do shipping and returns work?
Wall lights ship free and fully insured with DHL, bulb and mounting hardware included. Not right for your space? We offer 30-day returns on unused items in original packaging.
