How long should a staircase chandelier be?
It depends on your stairwell height. A long, cascading cluster suits a tall, double-height void, while a single statement piece works for standard stairs. Our drops are adjustable so you can set the exact length.
How high should it hang over the stairs?
Keep the lowest point well clear of head height on every step and the landing, so nobody can touch it as they pass. Hang it so it looks balanced from both the upstairs landing and the hallway below.
Can I adjust the length or drop?
Yes. Staircase chandeliers come with adjustable cords or chains that are shortened at installation, which is essential for getting a cascading piece to sit perfectly in your void.
Are bulbs included?
Most ship with warm-white LED bulbs included, so they are ready to install. The number of bulbs and the fitting type are listed on each product page.
How do you change the bulbs once it is hung high up?
We use long-life LED bulbs to keep maintenance rare. For tall voids, plan access (a tall ladder or tower) for the occasional change, or choose a lower cluster if access is tricky.
Will it light the whole stairwell?
A multi-light cascade spreads a warm glow up and down the void, which is its main job: atmosphere and a sense of height. For task light on the steps themselves, pair it with wall lights.
Is it hard to install?
The fixing must be secure because of the weight and drop, so a qualified electrician should mount it to a solid ceiling point. Mounting hardware is included and the adjustable drop makes positioning easier.
Are staircase chandeliers dimmable?
Most are, with compatible dimmable bulbs and a dimmer, ideal for a soft night-time glow in the hallway. We include dimmable warm-white LEDs where bulbs come with the piece.
What are they made of?
Designs combine hand-finished glass, metal and, in some pieces, crystal for that cascading sparkle. Each product page lists the exact materials and finish.
